LAPU-LAPU'S INTERNATIONAL COASTAL ECOLOGY WEEK: THE UNDERWATER PHOTO EXHIBIT

Appropriately dubbed "Underwater Scenes In and Around Mactan", the underwater photo exhibit ran from Monday, 11th to Friday, 15th at the lobby of Lapu-Lapu City Hall. There was a short opening and "ribbon" (LLC Divers used a confiscated fishing net as "ribbon") cutting ceremony.

As the opening day wore on, the exhibit drew a steadily thickening crowd. From the initial crowd of city hall employees and people doing business with the city on the first day, the exhibit drew a steady stream of people who came to the city hall days just to view the exhibits by word of mouth.

Clamors from all sectors of society, especially the educational sector, for more exhibits and other pictorial programs came one after the other. Arrangements will have to be made in the future for these.

The biggest event was an impromptu forum on Thursday the 14th when more than seventy-five students from the City Colleges came. DVD's and movies regarding coastal ecology were shown. Then the open forum! We answered questions as varied as Einstein's theory of relativity to the gobie-prawn symbiosis.

People are now wishing for more of these!
